    The new steel steed

I wanted something for winter training, so, after shopping around, I settled on a Surly cross-check built as a single speed/fixie hybrid (flip-flop hub!). It will serve as a commuter/fixie trainer on the road, and, once I get a couple of freewheel cogs, will also be my SS CX bike for some off-road shenanigans!

Hey Andrea, I was wondering where you went. I guess you were busy shopping and didn't have time for TE. Your Surley is sooo cool. Where did you get it--Outdoors Inc or your fav bike store?

I've been racing my butt off, but the season was over a week ago, so I've finally had time to breathe.

    Thanks! It's from Bikes Plus!

Oh yeah- and I thought that the white tape would just be funny. I can't wait to get it filthy!!

Yep! It worked OK for me so on my road bike but would make the muscles around my seatbones hurt really bad on long rides (though not the bones themselves). I also didn't like it being flexible (I feel that I get better power transmission on a stiff-shelled saddle). So, its home for now is on the Surly since the rides will be shorter and I don't have to work so much about effectively dropping the hammer
