I am doing a sculpture (www.sandscapes.com) at the South Carolina state fair then I have 3 days off and I go to the Lexington BBQ fest in North Carolina. Does anyone know what I should do or where I should go/ And I would like to mention My 40th birthday is during those 3 days. So a B and B would be nice. Just thought maybe someone was familiar with this area and could recommend something?

If you are in Lexington, NOrth Carolina (not south carolina) you should drive up to Winston-Salem and visit Reynolda Village or Old Salem. Old Salem is like a mini Williamsburg, Va. Then you could drive over to Grandfather Mountain and end up in Asheville and visit the Biltmore Estate. Tons of b&B's in the area. You could visit High Point, which is the furniture capital of the world. And there is always Charlotte which is like a small Atlanta.

Well thank you! I have worked in High point before so I am familiar with that area. But old Salem might be fun. And it will be fallish too so it should be nice. I will look into that part. Thank you again.

Happy Birthday Brandi - make sure you post pics of your trip and sculpture! DH and I have been all over the upstate SC area as well as western NC. We stayed up on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Mt. Pisgah Inn - the views are incredible - especially in the fall, and each room has its own private balcony with rockers facing the view!! Asheville has tons of stuff to do too! Not sure if you have time to visit Maggie Valley, NC, but the Cherokees have some beautiful items there and the Oconoluftee Indian Village is a great place to hear their history and see how they live. I have also been to Old Salem - it is neat! And alot like Colonial Williamsburg Va. Check with your local AAA office for a guide or a NC or SC visitor center - they have tons of info and free maps, etc. I envy you visiting there this time of year - enjoy!!!

Happy Almost Birthday, Brandi! Where is the SC State Fair? Knowing that will help direct you to places that are not too far away.

Right smack in the middle of the state. If it were me, I'd head east and south to Charleston and/or Edisto Island or Folly Beach.

You might also look into the Grove Park Inn...a unique place.

If you're up for a drive, look into a drive over to the Smokey's for some hikes.
