    She DID train. I believe she meant that before she started training, she hadn't ridden a bike. She had a trainer, and there's no way she hopped on a bike for the first time for the race. She raised over $127,000 for the Children's Hospital, and the entire race raised over $900,000. She DID train, was sponsored by Specialized, and never got comfortable with cleats.
