29-my last year in the 20's

i turned 29 today. no age has really bothered me. even 29 doesn't. but i really think 30 will. not that i think 30 is old, because it's not by any means, but it's just not a 20something anymore. this is my last year and i have so much to accomplish before i hit that milestone. not only will i turn 30 next year, so will my husband and we will have our 10 year anniversary. (our 9 year anniversary is tomorrow.) it will be a big year.

I turn 30 on Monday and even just a year ago, I felt the same way you do right now. It's really crazy how things can change in a year. In the past year I made a cross country move, changed jobs, found out my best friend was knocked up w/ husband's baby , got divorced, met the man of my dreams, lost 45 lbs, moved in with the man of my dreams, and decided to train for a century. I'm happier now than I have ever been as an adult and cant wait for my thirties!

What I'm trying to say is that even possibly 1 year from now, you might look back on your post and see what a different place you were in.

Oh man. I'm 44 and I am so much happier now than I was at 29. I rode my first century at 39 and did my best ride ever (70 miles with steep hills) last month.

I remember reading an article a few years ago about a Space Shuttle crew that had just returned to earth after a flight. The captain was in his mid-50s.

Dara Torres is what, 41? And winning medals in the Olympics and posing her hot bod in a bikini.

Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Robert Plant and Willie Nelson all qualify for the AARP but they're still performing.

Clint Eastwood is in his 80s and still making great movies. Harrison Ford is playing Indiana Jones in his 60s.

It is so not over when you turn 30.

I turned 30 this year...29 was a hard one...I just embraced 30, celebrate it!! You are young!!

I have embraced and celebrated 30, I am young and in shape and enjoying my life more than ever...my twenty somethings I felt were so confusing and full of turmoil...I am a little older, a little wiser, more confident, and know what I want from life....besides it's fun to whiz by a 20-something on a road ride...

Embrace it and Celebrate!!!

Happy Birthday! My husband is more concerned about 30 than me (I am 27). It just doesn't bug me yet, the only thing that bugs me is people either think I am sooooo young (they balk at me being married 5 years) or need to be doing things (babies) because I getting to "that age". I thought I could just be what I am. Well that is how I am living anyway, they can just be judgmental.

Happy bithday, all. I turned 39 on Wednesday and am hoping to embrace my 40s with gusto. I wouldn't go back to my 20s for all the tea in China. I am much happier now than I was then. Regardless, there's no point in worrying about a number or imposing some arbitrary expectation about where you're supposed to be in your life by a certain age. Just make the most of who you are and what you are, regardless of the number of candles on your cake.

Yep..age is just a number. I'm 50 and I love who I am and what I do. Embrace each year and you will grow to love who you are. Though the outside may betray me, I still feel very young inside.

I'll be hitting 41 in a few days. I'm slowly coming to the realization that I will no longer be "40" but "in my 40's". Blech. Sure, I'm in a much better place now, but still...

These are the same people who think that we should have 2 or 3 kids by now....sorry to dissapoint, but it's not happening....

I think about how much happier I am at 29 than I was at 23. Maybe happier is not the word...."content" might be a better choice.... We'll see how I feel about 30 when it gets here!

Two weeks after graduation for me! I also get mistaken for being about 18-20, short and just have a baby face.

Half our family can't understand the no kids, my parents would love grandkids and could careless if we say no to kids permanently they do not think DINKs are strange freaks of nature, which is what I feel like some days! DH's mom waited 6 years to have him and she understands. Now the Grandmas, his dad and his stepdad, that is a different story.

I have two standard answers to the "You don't have kids yet?"

1. "Yes, two furry Schnauzers named Heidi & Maggie" and if it is a co-worker "Wanna see a picture?"(have one at the desk)
or
2. "We might one day but right now we are happy to be a party of 2".


But yes, I am much happier at 27 than any point in my life. Honestly each year gets better and I can't see dreading 30 since the further I get away from 20 the better I feel physically and emotionally!

I was also fairly happy to leave my 20s behind. I did quite a few things that I'm not especially proud of during that decade. Great times for sure, but also pretty low stuff. Since I've been in my 30s (9 months!) it's been all good.
