Nytro rent's bikes, Cervelo's I believe. The can also give you plenty of local rides. SD is a wonderful place to ride. Just give them a call and make the arrangements.

I'm an East Coaster who's never been to California and am finally going out in early November to visit a friend in San Diego. She has a road bike and does triathlons, etc. So, I have the riding partner, but need the bike. I don't want to ship mine or fly with it just for a week, but would like to rent a bike for a couple of days of riding and exploring. Any recommendations for good shops, etc? I ride a small bike so I want to be sure to get something that fits well.
Also, any recommendations for must-do rides while in the area?

Hey, thanks, from me, too. I've spent tons of time in SD, since my parents moved there in 1979, but only been there once since I started cycling. We are going there for Thanksgiving, to visit my son, who is stationed at Camp Pendleton, my dad, and brother. I would love to ride one day, so I will definitely check this shop out.
Mt Palomar!
Next year's Tour of California is going to culminate with a mountaintop finish on Palomar, so you could watch it on tv and say, "hey, I did that climb!"
