I'm sure they won't forget about their mom!

Fuji-where did you go to uni? Good to hear you ventured overseas to do your studies.

I spent my last year of high school in Jakarta, Indonesia (where my family still lives) and went to school in Southern California. I am still in LA. Good thing is that my parents come and visit 2-3 times a year. You do realize how much you miss them and love them when they are so far away.

I went 101 miles door to campus away and mom admitted to bawling when I left. She was thankful I was gone (youngest kid) but missed me terribly. We are super close (also am with my Dad) and I came home almost every weekend the first year. After that it was still at least once a month, now I live 14 miles away and see them weekly, talk on the phone or email pretty much daily. They are never going to be free of me or my brother who is also there at least once a week and calls as often. So don't be too sad, you may not really be without them that much! In fact half the time I think my parents wish I was away more.

DH and I talk about moving away but realize we couldn't leave our parents, he is nearly as bad as I am.

I grew up in CT and went to school in MD. The first time they dropped me off, tears were shed. By the time the spring semester was getting to start I was like "Can I GO already?!" and no one was crying We actually got along much better not being in each other's hair every day.
