Over the last year I've been wanting to do it.....I've even talked about doing it but always had a reason not to. BUT for the last few months I've been sifting through threads in te and pretty much ran out of excuses - so thank you all - helping others, helped me.
Excuse 1
my drive to work is around 30 miles each way!
workaround 1
drive 10 and pedal 20
excuse 2
no shower at work
workaround 2
washcloth, sink, towel and jeans day on fridays!!
additional incentive:
we get out at 3 on Fridays!!
So yesterday I did it. Drove 10, pedal'd 19.86 and avg'd 17. 17!! This is huge for me. Up until this year my rides around town never got above 15.3! The ride in was nice and quiet! And like others have said my heart rate was probably a little high but honestly I was a bit nervous.
The ride home was.....busy. There was a LOT of traffic. It kept me SO on my toes that I didn't realize that I was apparently hammering even harder on the way back and hit an avg of 17.5! And I didn't have time to watch the odometer or stop to think about how tired I was
All in all - good trip. Will I do it again? Probably. Early Fridays end this week but I have lights and if I leave at 6 I should still have plently of daylight.
Congratulations on your commute. Morning air is absolutely wonderful, isn't it!!!
Wow, congratulations! That's no short commute. Good job!
THanks!
I wish I had started earlier in the summer. I'm thinking next summer I'd like to ride the whole 30 miles 1 day a week.
Great job!!!! Now that you know how much you love it, next summer will be so much fun. Even tho it's coming into fall, doesn't mean you can't still do at least part of it, eh?![]()
