I may have to talk to the doc about prilosec. I don't feel like the Aciphex is keeping everything under control. I'd be interested to know if my problem is being caused by too much acid or by something that's mechanically wrong with the structures that are supposed to keep acid in the stomach. Can they do any tests to determine that?

I was having horrible heartburn, and couldn't narrow it down to any specific trigger. My doctor did the test for h pylori, and that came back negative. She put me on Prilosec for a month and that helped. The heartburn went away and I'm no longer on Prilosec. Occasionally, I'll now get heartburn after eating spicy food or drinking coffee, and I can just take a couple of Tums and it goes away.

Good luck figuring out how to solve your problem!
