I'm Clipless!!!

Congratulations Shelley! I had lots of false starts with clipless and at one point decided it was way too much trouble and went back to toeclips for a while. I'm so impressed with how well you took to it right from the begining

Thanks for the info about the nike shoes. I tend to think of Nike shoes as running narrow but that's running shoes. I've never tired them as cycling shoes. I also have wide feet and cycling shoes just don't seem to accomidate for that. Right now I use some cheap Shimano mountain bike shoes with my Speadplay frogs, love the pedals hate the shoes. Do you know what model your Nike's are?

I feel very fortunate that my first clipless experience was so positive. I certainly know that's not the case for everyone.

If you have a wide foot I'd highly recommend these Nike shoes ... they're Nike Kato III Lace (they are women specific); I think I paid $79 for mine. I have such a hard time buying any kind of shoe that I dreaded shopping for cycling shoes. I was so surprised when I found two different styles that fit right off the bat. The Sidi Dominators also fit well, but they were over $200, and as a beginning rider, I just didn't feel like I could justify that. The Nikes were VERY comfortable when I rode yesterday. After reading lots of postings about the problems people have had with various shoes, I feel so lucky to have found some that seem to work right away. I wish you luck in finding some you like as well.

Shelley, thanks for your wise and encouraging words about "old labels."
It's causing me to have a "big think" about a lot of things. A lot!
