Ok, so none of you know who this is, but I wanted to post it anyway.

A good friend of mine just did her first sprint tri on Saturday, and I was there playing bird dog, i.e. I ran around talking too much, getting in her way and taking lots of photos It was the first time I ever even saw a tri, and it was such a blast to watch!

The swim was total chaos, but she did the 500 m swim, 23 km bike and 5 km run in 1 hr 34, finished 4th in her age group and looking like a million dollars. Just check out that grin. She's 5 years older than I am and the main reason that turning 40 holds no fear for me at all. And who knows - if she can teach me the crawl stroke I might just even consider signing up next year.

She not only looks great, she looks too fresh for having just finished a tri! You should join her next time!
It's fun to be the support group, too, though! And having had one on my first and second tri's, I can tell you it means a lot to see a friendly face cheering you on! My friend even ran the last 1/4 mile with me in my first one. That was so cool, b/c I was dying at that point!

Thanks for being a sherpa, lph, they play a very important role... hearing people cheer your name on and knowing they are there just for you sure makes you want to go faster. It's more fun when there's someone to share your journey with.

Next year you'll have to hire another sherpa, you'll be busy
