    Let's see your Biker Tan!

I'm sure there are others out there with similarly strange biker's tan lines...let's see 'em!

I'm kinda proud of my weird tan lines, but these glove tan lines are ridiculous I do wear sunscreen but evidently I need more SPF. And yes, I know I have very hairy arms...thank heavens it's blonde! I was going to include a picture of my shorts tan line too, but the pictures I took of my thighs were really unattractive.

Anyone else out there with weird tan lines to share?

Mid-winter here - knocking the ice off the deck in the morning. Only goosebumps - no tan

That was so funny! Also, I've had the glove tan in the past, and have a less severe one this year. I also used to have the small brown dot on the back of the hand from the little hole where the wrist strap leaves you exposed. My friend Kim one year after RAGRAI had a speckled tan from mesh-backed gloves. And people that wear the cycling sandals? They have fairly freaky foot tans.

Right now I'm sporting a 3 stage farmer tan on my arms. Here's how it goes: Forearms dark brown to 2-inches above elbow where sleeved jersey/unisex t-shirt comes, next two inches are slightly less brown from wearing a women's shorter sleeve tee, then slightly reddened area from there to shoulder from wearing sleeveless items. It's damned hot. I'll see if I can find a picture!

We are going on a beach vacation next week, and I find myself actually applying self tanner just to the pale part above my knees in an attempt to even things out before I put myself out there in my swim suit! Oh, vanity.

I don't have any pics, but my glove tan is like yours, only perhaps a tad darker, and you can also see it on my fingers. My thighs have the top-of-the-knee to partway up my thigh tan, complimented by a nice deep tan only on the back of my legs, terminating (of course) at my sock line. I like to think of it as a "real" tan, which you get by being outside in the sun a lot, as opposed to the "fake" perfectly-golden-marshmallow tans people get in a tanning salon. A glove-tan story:

Sitting at work chatting with a coworker, I gestured and my coworker suddenly gasped: "Oh my gosh, what's wrong with your hands?!" I looked at them, leprously white against the darker tan of my arms. "Nothing," I said, and he cottoned on: "You mean that's your glove tan?" he gasped. And then he almost collapsed laughing!

Here's mine. I've been trying to even things out by wearing a bikini as much as possible in the hot summer sun here, but with limited success - I still look like I've got legs grafted on from someone else

I actually am a fanatic when it comes to sunscreen lately, so I don't have any major tan lines... a little on the thighs. But I actually hesitated this weekend when I was putting on the sunscreen and thought I'd like a crazy biker tan, and maybe I wouldn't apply it.

    Is that sick?

Is it kind of like...."What would happen if I touch this hot stove....for just a teensy second??"

Well, I have a weird pattern on my back. My partner calls it my crop-circle tan.

This was last year's photo of self in black dress. But seems like I repeat the same old tan line...watch on arm, etc.

    http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showt...k+dress&page=2

I actually don't wear sleeveless tops when I cycle nor tops that show much of my top chest (not that I much up there anyway) or cut-outs in back. Have been cycling for many years now.

STrange as it may seem to many people who want a beautiful overall tan or as much tan as poss8ble, I now want to preserve the softness and smoothness of skin areas normally not exposed to the sun. I tan naturally very well, almost too well. Anyway what faint tan do I need anyway. That's my natural skin colour even in winter.

cycling lots does give one a tan...whether or not you want it...despite loads of sunblock. For me, now when I see people lying out sunbathing....it has no appeal to me anymore. When I was cycling in Hawaii, when I got off the bike by a beach, first place I went for...was the palm tree shade.

Last year's evidence just before it hit leg-warmer season:

-- gnat! (this year I've actually spent time in a bikini, and the lines aren't as dramatic!)
