Earthquake! Everyone okay?

Hey Brandi, I DID think of you. I was remembering what you said about the vertical portions being so hard to construct. Glad everything is Okay and you are finally going home even though only a short visit. We did feel it here in Glendale where I am on the 16th floor of a high-rise. No problems though. Just waiting for the BIG one on the San Andreas.

I know. It is scary, especially, as within the past few months, our experts at Cal Tech have done an exhaustive study predicting a great earthquake on the San Andreas, originating in the Salten Sea area and working northward toward the Palmdale/Lancaster area. This is predicted with almost certainty to occur within the next 30 years and will have a hugh impact on all of Southern California. I have lived here all my life and have always been interested in geology (in my "next life" I want to be a geologist, ha, ha.) Unfortunately, yesterday's earthquake will have no effect whatsoever on relieving the strees on the San Andreas. For those who are interested, you can go to the USGS.com website and view all the earthquakes which have occurred in the recent past. It is amazing how many small earthquakes we have constantly, but they are too small to be felt. The earth is very dynamic and the tectonic plates are moving constantly.

Every time I think of the ideal place to live in the U.S., my first thought is California... UNTIL I remember the earthquakes. No thank you, I'll pass!

I like it just fine in New York where the possibility of natural disasters is about as low as can be... We won't talk about the other things that happen here, though.
