[QUOTE=aly;345152]I closed on my house a month ago, I've been expecting an earthquake ever since. Hopefully this'll last us for awhile!QUOTE]

I hear you, Aly! I've been trying not to think about that since we closed in February.

I was in the middle of treating a patient. I had her compression bandages halfway up her arm when the floor started rolling. Dumbells and supplies were falling off the shelves and my patient kept saying, "I feel dizzy". I had to act totally calm but was FREAKING.

I kept thinking... the inspector said my chimney might fall down in an earthquake!!! But it's still standing and the dogs have calmed down.

Lightbulb Glad to hear all is well - great post, Trek

Your link to be prepared for emergencies is a great idea. Preparation isn't a big deal, but can make a big difference, if you need to be self sufficient or leave your home.

Now days, with my daughter out of the house, I want to make sure my pets are ok, too. Many of us who post to this site have furry family members, so think about them.

Ok, I haven't added an icon before - this is for the broken light bulb in the courtroom, where the judge ran away!!

My DH was in Lake Forest, parked in a lot waiting for some computer hardware to be brought out to him from a vendor. He said the van started shaking from side-to-side and initially he thought some of the guys he knows there were horsing around and jumping on his rear bumper. He looked....and no one was there.

Otherwise, he said it was ok and no damage that he could see there...

Not that I'm all that prepared, one of my coworkers has pretty much everything a person could need in his car, under the work desk ... at his home. He's Mr. Safety

But one of the simple things you can do is put a box right under the bed; spare set of glasses in my case, slippers, flashlight. Why the slippers? In a big one there's going to be glass so at least a way to get out.

Remind me, I need to change the spare water supply. It's under all sorts of construction tools right now.

That's ok, I could saw my way to the water

Whew! I made it home and not a thing was out of place. The cats were strange, but they're always strange. Amy- we need to ride in celebration of our houses not falling down! Maybe this weekend.

I'm not prepared for a real emergency at all. I think many of us in the city are so used to having everything nearby, that it's hard to imagine not having the convenience. I used to have a jug of water and a flashlight, but I have no idea what happened to them. I guess that's something we should work on.

I 'll agree it was strange, I was sitting in my county building and thought it feels like a boat on the water. we were evacuated briefly, and home was just as I left it

Sundial: most of the aftershocks are minor. Besides, do't you live in New Madrid Fault territory?

Yes, I'm located 72.7 miles from the epicenter, in Marked Tree. I really hope we don't have The Big One because it will be at least 8.0 on the Richter scale.

One morning I awoke feeling the bed shaking. I thought one of my german shepherds was leaning against the bed, scratching. I looked down and she was across the room, lying on the floor.

Every 140 years there's a major quake on the Hayward fault ... the last one was about 139 years ago. So it's not if ... when. I was happy to find out while tearing things apart here that the hovel is earthquake reinforced. I think of my bikes as part of my emergency kit.

Yay, Judge Judy! I saw a clip that she immediately got under her desk while the plaintiff just stood there and the audience panicked and ran out I <3 Judge Judy

Bet nobody remembered I was working on a 300 ton sand sculpture here in southern Cali yesterday when it hit? Very scary at first! Then realized my sculpture is probably more stable then most building here.No damage at all for us. Thank goodness considering today is our last day after working on it for a whole month. That would have been bad!

Lol I was driving when it happened and had no clue until the girl at Sport Eve asked if I felt the earthquake.

And then the texts started coming in asking if I am ok. And I had no clue why they were asking.

    Ahahaha.

    It was fun!

I had a few out-of-town (Swedish) friends staying with me, and I think they had a blast. They're excited to go home and tell their friends about it
