    Yes, snappers and painted turtles are VERY abundant in our area. A very large pond I pass on my fitness walks has a log that sticks out of the lily-padded water and in the summer the painted turtles are PILED on that log sunning, like a dozen at a time! I can only imagine how many more hundreds of painted turtles are in the water and piled on dozens of other logs around the pond shores.
    I was an avid student of local plants and animals when I was very young- always collecting and studying bugs, spiders, reptiles, amphibians, plants....

    "Tiny" just ate a centipede.

    He also did a big poop. I'm so proud of him!
