Rabbit Question

My partner's daughter (she's 30 now), had a rabbit for about 5 yrs., before it just died last year. Gretchen, the rabbit lived at least 8 yrs. It was big and black.

She has a dog which naturally like to 'round up' the rabbit...like what a collier would do for sheep...the 2 creatures would run around inside her apartment (yea, you heard me) and have great fun. Admidst the haughty cat...

If my rabbit was any indication, they are very smart and have a sense of humor too. Dny of your rabbits vocalize a little bit? Mine would put his face up to my face (his whiskers tickled!) and say, "Uff! Uff! Uff!" very softly.

He loves peanut butter too! If I don't give him some he throws a temper tantrum in his cage.

I checked with my vet today regarding his nail. She told me keep a close eye on the nail bed and to keep it clean. It looked good this afternoon.

Thanks for posting the update. I'm glad Marconi is doing well. I remember now a dog of mine had that once, and healed up nicely.

My rabbit loved apples, and he loved the apple seeds the best. He'd just close his little eyes with pleasure when he was chewing the seeds. He also liked oatmeal, just dry in his dish. And it's been 25 years since I had a bunny kiss, but I remember them now that you mention it.

Careful with the apple seeds. They do contain small amounts of arsenic and can be poisonous if too many are eaten. Same with most pits and fruit seeds.

Thanks for asking, he is doing well. The toe seems fine - no drainage or swelling. I check it each morning when I feed him and clean his litter box.

Marconi's favorite is parsley - he loves it! He does not like spinach or kale and tolerated the cilantro (they were out of parsley).

He started out as a classroom pet. Since I teach science all my classroom animals were given the names of famous scientists. Sadly, I had to bring my animals home after two suffered traumatic injuries while I was home recovering from pneumonia.
