Oh, big calming hugs to you! Don't stress over the weight, that'll fall into place when things settle back down. Maybe suggest a place you like for lunch? Or just bring your lunch in. If this guy's been there for that long, I'm sure he can manage finding his way around and eating by himself. Even better, tell him you have to go for a ride during your lunch break.
There's something incongruent between your comment and your sigline.Quote:

Cat - I feel your pain. Missed going on a ride yesterday, due to working OT. To make it worse, there was NO WIND. (there's always wind on the levee).
I agree with NoNo - bring your own lunch. Or do you really have to babysit the consultant? Maybe schedule a ride on your calendar, and invite him to come along? Or just schedule the time, and tell him you have a prior appointment, enjoy lunch without you!
I work for Uncle Sam, so don't have direct knowledge in the care and feeding of consultants. But I can't imagine that you're supposed to be joined at the hip every freaking day.
Good luck. Hope your project finishes soon. Big calming hugs
and I really should get back to my report, the july 31 deadline is looming...

smilingcat, I'm in pretty much the same boat lately, except no consultant to babysit . . . my rides lately have been just the 5 miles to/from work. Hopefully that changes this weekend.
I hope things settle down for you soon.
In my experience it seems like men aren't afraid to ask for what they want or go ahead and do what they had planned. If you turn the situation around, what would he do? If you're entitled to an hour break every day, you should be able to take it or at least compromise with him and do every other day, etc.
