    Bicycle Commuting Photos Sought
Are you passionate about riding your bike to work or school? Do you have a camera? Do you want to be a part of a story in Orion that celebrates bicycle commuting?

Orion is looking for photography submissions from readers for an upcoming issue of Orion. We need all sorts of images, in all seasons, from all across the country. If you’d like to submit, please adhere to the following requirements:

-- Send your images electronically, set to 4"x6" at 300dpi and saved as a jpeg at high-quality.

-- Name your files with the city and state where you commute and the approximate round trip distance (in miles) of your commute.

-- Include your full name in the email as you wish it to appear in the picture credits.

-- Send your images to jasonbhouston@gmail.com with the subject line “Orion - Bicycle Commuting”.

Please note that due to the nature of this project and our limited budget as a nonprofit, advertising-free magazine we will not be able to pay for usage of your photographs. By sending in your photographs to this call for images, you are confirming that you own the copyright to the images and can grant usage, and that you are agreeing to allow Orion to publish your photograph(s) in print and related online presentations of our bicycle commuting article.

I love Orion magazine. My Mom subscribes, it's well written, beautifully designed and produced, informative yet optimistic ... a great 'zine.

This is a bit of a paradox -- how do you commute and take a picture of yourself at the same time?

...I guess that's what friends are for...

Looks like fun. I'll have to try and get this shot again with a higher res camera.

Kfergos, I was sort of wondering too, whether they want pictures of commuters or of the commute. I was thinking a picture of other commuters encountered on a particularly nice part of the commute might be good.

I guess the ambiguity of the instructions only adds to the creativity that I'm sure will result.

I've always thought I should bring a camera along on my commute, since I go across the Mississippi, through a neighborhood of Victorian houses, past the Cathedral and state capitol, back down by the river, alongside a railroad track, past some barges, up a bluff and through a mini gorge. I always see interesting or beautiful sights along the way. And the funny thing is that when I get to work, people always ask "how did you ride your bike here?" as if the freeway is the only way to get from point A to point B.
