Hey CindySue - sounds like fun!

I'd like to come too - depending on what my Sunday ride turns out to be (I only have 1 more week until my Mt Diablo attempt - and I'm getting nervous! I want to be as well prepared as I can be, so I think I need to do some climbing this weekend as well...)

Where exactly at Rockridge BART is the meetup place?

Trek - Too bad you can't come - maybe you'll feel a bit under the weather (cough cough) on Saturday when work starts, but be miraculously recovered by 9:30!

    Ellen and BikerZ, et. al,

We'll be at the bottom of the escalator.

BikerZ (and anyone else interested), I'll probably ride old tunnel to grizzly peak on my way back to walnut creek. You are welcome to join me. I'll be riding my clunky comfort bike (at least until the insurance money kicks in and I can get a new road bike), so you can count on a nice slow pace up the hills.

    See ya there!

I see you live in Berkeley. And most of our rides are in and around Berkeley since that is where most of the girls live too. You're welcome to join us anytime!
    Cheers!

    Good idea Cindy -

Back up OTR and along Grizzly for awhile sounds good - I'll ride with you a while then turn back towards home. Starting down at Bart will be a longer climb than what I have been doing - - but nothing compared to Mt D!

Tuesday evening was my first time all the way up OTR without stopping at all (except at that stop sign where you cross 24) - a big deal for me! Speed was pretty slow (computer wasn't working, so I have no idea what it was...), but steady. Can we strap a few cinderblocks on your clunker to really handicap you?

    Well, we'll see about that!

I'm curious - what will your route be back to WC - will you take Pinehurst down?

I'll take OTR to Grizzly Peak to Fish Ranch - hop on the freeway for two exits (yes bikes are allowed on 24 between Fish Ranch and Orinda), then take the Orinda trail back through Orinda, Lafayette, and then Pleasant Hill to Walnut Creek. Typically I would go back via Bear Creek Road and Alhambra to Pleasant Hill - but I think I would have a real ROUGH time getting up (I'd end up walking up!) the steep side of Pig Farm hill on my 7 speed clunker!
    Cheers!

bikerz "Trek - Too bad you can't come - maybe you'll feel a bit under the weather (cough cough) on Saturday when work starts, but be miraculously recovered by 9:30! "

tempting, but then there would go the perfect attendance award ... which around here is maybe post-its. Sunday my neice is having a BBQ in Berkeley...so I'm trying to be Diablo ready on the cycleops.

Yes Cindy Sue- I think going up the back side of Pig Farm would definitely be a test! I don't even like to do it on my roadbike!! Was out that way this past Tuesday, but we went to the Bearclaw Bakery in El Sobrante (?) and then home via the yucky refinery. But I got 70 miles in so I was happy!

Let me know when you get set up with a new bike.

Benicia Bike Club rider makes front page Chronicle today!

The Benicia Bike Club stars again! That's Artic Bill you see on that pic of the Sunday Chronicle wearing our club jersey. He did 114 miles at 19MPH and was the first guy to get to Palo Alto. He rode with us today and said it was a looong ride around the bay but very well organized. Just love all that publicity for cycling in Benicia!!!

How was the ride for the ladies?
    Nancy
