failure at avoiding new bike

I was just thinking of going to pick it up today, although I just made the drive yesterday, I hate to leave it and not see again till next weekend. I checked out the trails by lion's club park on the computer, can't wait to try them. But I promised my 4 year old I'd take him to six flags today, so I think two rolla trips in one weekend might be out for this weekend.
My trek came back from gisallo's in great shape, no clicking bottom bracket any more, so it would be nice to get in a ride on it today, but not sure if that'll happen because of the six flags promise....

I'm glad my Six Flag days are over! I worked there in High School, and then the kids had to go every year...I'll be thinking of you. It's suppose to be hot today too.

Why don't I just go over and get the bike for you and report back to you on how much I like it?

well, we did the six flags thing and enjoyed being in the water on such a hot day, but I couldn't get the bike out of my mind. So when we finished, we came home, changed vehicles to one with a bike rack, and I drove BACK down to rolla to get my bike. When I got it home I had to try it out. I've got a quarter mile dirt path around my property that I walk laps with the dogs. It's uneven, with tree roots, small rocks, and a bit of a steep berm at one point. But before I could ride it, my husband actually WANTED to ride it! This is the guy who refused to ride anything except his walmart bike and pretends to not understand why I want to pay so much for bikes. He rode the whole way round and enjoyed it, he said he really likes it. He ran over every bump and rock he could find, but really isn't that familiar with gears and what to do with them. It seems to fit him ok, since it's so long. Then I did some laps on it, and fell in love with it all over again. Until I started test riding them, I'd never ridden a "real" mountain bike, only the walmart mountain bikes (with the stickers on them that say not to take off road). I ride this trail all the time on my trek hybrid, and it does ok with it. But this thing really LIKES it! It climbs the short steep bank really well, it seems like it's easier to climb. I can stand up if I want, easily, where on the hybrid it seems awkward to stand up(luckily the trek seems to be able to climb hills without me having to stand up, we just climb verrry slow). It just seems very natural. It's a 17.5 size, I tried the trek 4500 in a 16 and 18 frame, and neither felt as good to me as this one, it seemed like my knees were too close to the handlebars and I felt cramped. I'm not that tall, 5'6" or 7", but this one just feels right.
OK, so I have only ridden it on my own little trail, but friday I hope to go to rolla again, and I plan to take it to lion's club park and try one of the mountain bike trails there.
Haven't named it yet, I do like truffle, just haven't decided. Right now it's just "the new bike".
