it's been a long time, baby!

after 4 seasons of racing cross, I didn't race last year. I needed a break. I had other "things" on my plate. my last race in 2006 was miserable -- pouring rain, deep mud (cow shat), etc. I didn't clean my bike for months after that.

anyways, I'm doing this crazy 100-mile all-terrain Alley Kat race on Saturday and decided the cross bike would be the best choice for a bike, so I built it back up yesterday and took it for a spin last night with our weekly mountain bike ride.

wee! I can't remember having so much fun on my cross bike in a long time. riding my fs mtn bike has made me soft. what a great workout on the cross bike. and how zippy and responsive compared to the f.

just wanted to share the joy!

Wow, have fun Saturday! I'll think of you as I'm sloggin' up the hills out of Pleasant Hill at the end of my 200 K tomorrow. You'll be my inspiration because it sounds like you'll be zooming up much worse stuff!

How long will 100 mile all terrain ride take?

I have no idea. I'm guessing we'll average 10-12mph so a long time. actually, my girlfriends and I are considering the bail-out option @ 50 miles, but that's still a good long dirt ride.

now, the real challenge is what does a mainstream dork like me wear to an alley kat with a bunch of san francisco hipsters?
