    Nanci would have been able to respond to the post I made in bike journal about running over the huge gopher snake (who seemed undamaged). I was descending and couldn't avoid or hop him - came on him too quickly. I turned around and herded him off the road. consensus was since he was moving great and seemed ok when I scooched him off the road, that he'd prolly make it.

    I'm not nanci, but was once a herper. I'd say it was prolly ok, too. A big gopher snake can withstand a quick rollover with a bike. You were probably going so fast, he barely felt it

    I knew I shoulda posted that here. on bike journal it elicited a lot of testo-laden killing snake comments, and the most productive response I got was from SK anyway.

    eta: though I did learn our friend glenn wanted to be a herpetologist at one point, and that's kinda cool.
