did anyone see on the tour that slipstream/garmin whateverhave argyle shoes? i love them, so yes, i love these too, nothing wrong with footwear that really stands out! and i'm always confused too, so maybe that is why i like them.

I like these, but I can't justify new shoes. I went to the ends of the earth to find the 2006 Sidi Genius 5 in blue last summer. Rarely do I see anyone wearing my blue shoes, it makes me happy to not have black or white even if the blue never match anything.![]()

I'm not sure how to compare to Sidi because I've never been able to find a Sidi shoe that I could comfortably. This chart may help, I got it a while ago from a friend, it's on a German website, and that has measurements for several brands of cycling shoes: http://www2.bsn.de/Cycling/shoe-sizing.html
I usually wear Adidas that run on the small side, and so these looked like a more consistent sizing to me - but I did notice that they are a little narrower than Adidas.
If you wear 39.5 I would suggest to ask your bike shop to order 39 and 40 and try both. I guess you would fit more comfortably in a 40. It also depends on whether you wear any insoles/wedges in your cycling shoes...
And yes they are cute! I love the gold color with the red accents, and it goes well with one of my bikes that is yellow and gold...![]()
Adidas has red shoes, I have several Adidas shoes and love them. Depending on what you want to do with them (road or tri) they have three models in red:
1. adistar pro road (but you have to look for 2006 or 2007 models, because the 2008 is either black/white or silver http://www.glorycycles.com/adadroprocys.html)
http://www.nashbar.com/nashbar_photo...-NCL-ANGLE.jpg
2. adistar ultra
http://www.glorycycles.com/adadulcysh.html
3. adistar tri carbon
http://www.glorycycles.com/adadtrcysh.html
I think Sidi genius 5 also has a red model, not sure though.
I hate all things I consider "girlish", and flowers and the color blue rank right up there at the top of the list. But, those are funky enough I'd do them in a heartbeat! Unfortunately, my feet and Sidis are not compatible.
And of course 'want' equals 'need' -- isn't that the way of cycling?! I want to exercise; I need a bike. I want to know if I'm improving; I need a Garmin. I want to live; I need a helmet. Why should shoes be any different?!

I love my ruby slippers, too.
I say get them. Why not? Having a spare pair is always helpful, particularly if you anticipate any riding in the rain.
I am a Sidi shoe snob. I own 3 pair..love love love them. I can justify all 3, good ones, rainy day ones, and bulky sock day ones. LBS said you can't just own one pair! Am I jonesing for those floral fab ones???? Jourey is still out, but if they were yellow flowers instead of blue...oh yeah! I love the red ones, but they would clash so bad with my yellow/black stead- wouldn't they? Yes, I think they would.. (Ive been secretely looking at a pair of red ones on ebay and I don't need any encouragement from the mass media here)
I'm shopping for mountain style shoes, or at least ones that take recessed cleats. But I admit I haven't yet read every last post on Sidis (which of course I will), but until then, why do you like your Sidis? I'm rejecting them strictly based on price, which has been conveniently tossed for this exercise...
So why do you like 'em?
I love mine because they fit like a glove. They are made for narrow feet and mine feel like the shoes mold around my foot. My old shoes just didn't have the snug feeling I really like, especially in a cycling shoe. The sole on the Genius 5 is nice and stiff, unlike my mountain shoes (wear commuting) that just don't feel great out of the saddle for me. They are just well made and if they fit you right then it is just so wonderful.
