Yoghurt with a spoonful of honey?
I have almost no chocolate, cookies or ice cream in the house, and basically never salty snacks.

I just started on the South Beach diet and here's a dessert that tastes great and is very satisfying.

    ---------------------------
    Vanilla Ricotta Crème

    Serves 1

    Ingredients:
    1⁄2 cup part-skim ricotta cheese
    1⁄4 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 package sugar substitute ( <-- I'd use half a package, at most )

    Instructions:
Mix together the ricotta, vanilla extract, and sugar substitute in a dessert bowl. Serve chilled.

    Nutritional Information:
    178 calories
    10 total fat (6 g sat)
    38 mg cholesterol
    7 g carbohydrate
    14 g protein
    0 g fiber
    155 mg sodium
    -------------------------------

You can vary it by adding a bit of cocoa power and instant espresso, or almond extract - use your imagination.

I'm trying to figure out why Jo thinks she needs to diet.

    V.

PS How does cheese factor into the SB diet?

Because Jo can barely squeeze into her formerly very baggy pants and is developing rolls in her midsection. And her underwear is getting tight!!!

So will you be joining me on my July 200K? I won't bring you cookies now.

    V.

PS Cookies brings the thread back on track. I usually have homemade chocolate chip cookies in the freezer. I thaw one a day as my treat.

Weird. still 50% calories from fat. Instead of Ricotta, you could use a lower fat dairy product.

I've made this with cocoa powder in it as well (very few calories) and I've also substituted strained plain yogurt for the ricotta for a more pudding-like texture. It's all yummy and low cal.

I either go get some ice cream (on my bike) or I go brush my teeth.

Actually, a piece of fruit usually does it for me. Especially strawberries (or any kind of berries, even frozen ones--with a bit of vanilla yogurt)

    Why Fast Desserts?

If you're going to have dessert, might as well slow down and enjoy it.

    Frozen Peppermint Patties. Num.
Sometimes just a low fat, light yogurt is good.
Also -- frozen chocolate covered raisins.
Pike Place TEA... nummy orange spice stuff. Naturally sweet.

I'm of the belief that if you're going to have it, make it at least worth it!
BTW... my scale is stuck, so I may not be the person to take advice from!
