    Yesterday was multiple hill repeats with the tri training group. For some unknown reason, I am actually kinda good at running uphill. I was quite surprised. This was a welcome change from last week's demoralizing run with the group; definitely a psychological boost.

    Tomorrow I am supposed to run a 5k at "race pace" and then another 5k easy - I have not done a tri before, so it will be interesting to see what my "race pace" turns out to be.

    The local 4th of July run today: 5.17 miles (no.. not 5.0 and not even 5.2)
    49 minutes.

    Started out WAY too fast for me -- 8:48 first mile, which is ok, but not to be sustained, and about 9 minute mile 2.... then had to walk -- I was too winded! So I walked and ran and walked again. FINALLY got my stride at about 2.5 to 3 miles, and finished without any other stops, but my time definitely fell off.

    Hmm.. seems my running has slipped. I need to focus on 3x/week no matter what!

    My time was still much improved over last year's. And under 10 min miles. OK... not a horrible day. And it's over!

    I planned to run 3 miles this morning. Breakfast was NOT sitting well and I ended up sprinting back to the house after just one loop.

    I did 4.6 km in Edmonton on Tuesday, and 5.4 km at home today. Sunday is my 8k race. More like an 8k run since I've never run 8k and only have aspirations of doing a long run. I'll be VERY happy if I can do it in 48-50 minutes.

    Jes, if I did 8:47 mile, I'd keel over and think I reached a Nirvana of sorts

    I ran 8 miles today, easy. It was fantastic in that even though I felt kind of not all that (been a rough week), I could control my pace. I ended up running it in 28 minutes which is ok. I could have gone faster and there were times I slowed myself down because it was warm and my HR was up. Regardless, it felt good and I was in control of the pace.

    Happy 4th, everyone We usually go to DH's parents house because they live on a lake and there is a wonderful fireworks show that is put on over the lake. This is the first time we are going to stay home. Due to life circumstance (DH's father is in the hospital) and the fact we are tired, we're going to stay here and see what the neighbors are up to with the illegal fireworks. We might go by the hospital but other than that, we're staying comfy.

    Wow!!! 8 miles in 28 minutes!!

    BTW - I don't like the way you referenced illegal fireworks and going to the hospital so close together. Be careful out there!!

    On my bike ride today, I kept trying to remember the name of the Bionic Woman. Hey, it could happen! Odds are not though. I don't know WHY the theme for the A Team kept going through my head.

    Ugh, what a couple of weeks it's been. More than a couple, really. Didn't even run after my accountability post the other day.

    The good news is I woke up this morning with renewed motivation and went out for a run earlier than I'd been in I don't know how long.

    Did my 8k race today. My time of 46:20ish. My goal was 48:00 so I'm very happy with that. Legs felt great the whole race but they'll probably be sore tonight and tomorrow.
