Well, I brought the butterflies with me to the interview, they were good company. It was a little nerve wracking because they had me do some test write ups and such. I am still a little bit of newb when it comes to components, especially road stuff. Here are some stunning examples I remember:

"With an Ultegra drivetrain and Dura Ace components the Felt F55 will respond to your every command whether you're leading the pace line, or your Sunday group ride."

"The ultimate epic ride has finally met its perfect match in the Kona Coilair Deluxe."

I think the funny part is that afterwords he chatted with me a bit more. I believe he said something to the effect of, "I'm a little amazed here Hillary. You've done some great write ups for us, where does it come from?" I think he was hinting at my lack of related or any degree. I resisted the urge to say, "From my butt" which is mostly true. I just told him flat out I've loved reading and writing all my life and it's just how I write. What I think of as a casual email or BB post others see as a great story.

Meh, I have my fingers crossed, but even still it's amazing to be considered. It just serves to remind me that I am capable of more than this "just a customer service rep" rut I've stuck myself in. I feel so strangely fine. Something pulled me to this state, and something is keeping me here. Maybe it's testing me, making me ride out the challenges (of which there have been many) before it shows me what it has for me.

Either way the parts for my bike should be here Monday, and tomorrow I'm going to try and use a sweet "crack and fail" road bike to pull a beautiful teenage girl out of some nasty depression.

Glad it went well! Sounds like you were quite impressive! Great job. And great job sticking your neck out for something new and uncharted!

Good luck with the teenager -- tough stuff. I hope you help.

    No kidding
you don't need no stinking degree for that, just about five issues of Bicycling Magazine.
Sounds like the guy is wearing an easily stretched wool hat

    At any rate, good luck!

Weee! I just had a very long day and came home super tired. Despite being tired I can't sleep because I haven't wound down yet. Anyway, I was checking my email and saw that I had an email from the bike copy writing gig. I figured it was thanks but no thanks since it was email, not a phone call.

Much to my delight it's a "We really like you, talk to so and so about when you can complete the next step in the application process." Sweet! I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high, because the "next step" has been mentioned before but always very vaguely.

Oh man, this is so scary exciting. Like my first job in web design at 17 and scared to death. Now I just regret not putting myself out there and trying to do what I wanted long ago. I guess I figured it was degree or nothing. Not sure why since I got my web design jobs on skills alone. *sigh* So happy.
