    My "run"

Two days post Triathlon. OMG I'm sore today!
Decided that sitting around again wasn't going to help. Got up and set out to do 5 miles. I ended up covering 5.5 miles, but had to walk a lot of it. The heat, and I was DRAINED! I hope this gets better soon! I have to do a 5 mile local race on the morning of the 4th. Ack! I'm going to stumble in last if I don't feel better by then!

Jes, it is HOT out. That and there's the delayed reaction of being sore and stuff.

V, 9 miles and only two walks? That is good!! Think about it, in a tri (or race) there are going to be water stops, etc. Unless you are really really really graceful, you are going to slow/walk a bit to walk or dump water over yourself.

No running since my tri on Saturday but I will tomorrow/today. (When I wake up, that is.) I'm actually kind of happy and excited over it all

What!?! You mean I'm suppose to stop to drink?! On the Tri for Fun I just took a cup and tried to drink on the move. I think I ended up wearing about 2/3 of the water.

3.5 mile hill run during my lunch break today. It felt GREAT. Finally. Since I found out the mileage I've had a mental break when it comes to doing the whole thing without stopping. See I had estimated it at 2.5 but it's really 3.5, once I found it out I always stopped and seemed to get tired on it real easy.

Today it was sunny and warm, but with a strong cool wind, and the run felt great. No stopping, even on the last Hill of Doom. I slowed the pace down, so maybe that was it, or maybe my legs are reacting to a week of rest (only 2x3mile runs last week) following a tri, but I felt STRONG.

Let's hope it continues... I just signed up for a second Oly Tri come August, and it'll be HOT and HILLY. Oy. What have I done?

    *pats herself on the back*
This was my "first" workout after being sick last week
alarm clock rang at 5am today. Asked myself why am I doing this, but got up anyway.

I had a glass of water with some rice syrup and pinch of salt (I am trying to develop my own energy goo based on rice syrup and maltodextrin), and was out the door at 5:14! 45 min run. 6K, slow & easy, I felt good while, but a bit woozy after.

shower, 15 min re-incubation under the covers, and off on the train at 7 am.

......? shins? will tell you once they're holding up to 60 mins.....

I am so impressed with you TRI girls! What an accomplishment! I can bike and run but not so sure about the swim . I did get my long run of 9.25 in on Saturday and a short easy 3 on Sunday. Nothing on Monday and plan to run this evening at 7Pm hoping it cools down. It has been in the 90's today. the heat just wipes me out. I went to the Yogi /Pilates class again this WOW that is hard stuff. Anyother YOGI"S out there?

Last year during my first tri (and first non-cycling event since I was about 5), I attempted to drink while running. I even thought I could artfully dump water over my head in dramatic fashion to help cool myself down. I learned that I can't drink while running and water pouring over my head moves the sweat into my eyes and it HURTS. It was just SO bad

Today I ran hills. I haven't run hills in about a month maybe? I was really looking forward to it too. It hurt. I am actually sore and I don't get sore. I think that's a good thing

Here's a few threads with tips on eating/drinking during a run. I had the worst problems with it last year and this year it seems somewhat better. Haven't done any long runs, but the drinking out of cups things seems to be improving. The big tip that helped was the folding of the cups tip. Then you can kind of suck it out of the cup like you do with a water bottle. I don't have a problem running and drinking out of a bottle.

Also, I wear a visor for most hot-weather runs so I find that the visor stops the water from pushing sweat into my eyes. But then, I barely sweat off my face, so not sure this would happen to me anyway.

kimmyt, thanks I remember reading about that.

I can kind of drink out of a bottle when I run but really, I'm kind of a spazz. I can't even drink and walk at the same time

    i'm really not kidding

Got in a brief 30 minutes today! Jog/walk/sprint stuff. 2.85 miles. Felt MUCH better today than two days ago! Had to ride tonight so didn't push it, but I did STRETCH a lot. Tomorrow off, then a 5 mile race Friday am.

BTW... I also cannot drink and run at same time. CHOKE FEST or I miss altogether!
