ok, i'm sitting here at the sewing machine embroidering a dozen baseball caps - i HATE doing baseball caps! - and also doing laundry and watering. but i totally had to do a doubletake and tripletake when i read of fredwina's ride! awesome!

we have now gone car-free for 42 days. i thought we would cave yesterday when we had to go to a party at a friend's house 20 miles away at 5 p.m. but i asked dh, "are we committed to this" and he said yes so off we rode in 111 degrees! had to stop about 13 miles in and top off our bottles with ice.

when we got to the house, we took off our shoes and helmets, walked right thru the garage, thru the house and just jumped into the pool in full kit!!

the ride home was actually pleasant, wind had died down, streets were well lit, temp probably about 90. except for the one flats, i'm really enjoying this.

I actually get to post here

I had to work today but I woke up early and did an 11 mile ride. It was just a nice-paced recovery ride but still, it was great to get out.

I saw a family of ducks (mom and ducklings) cross the street. The cars all stopped for them even. One poor duckling fell into a hole off the curb but managed to get out ok. He/she ran to catch up to mom, it was SO cute. I wish I would have had my camera.

I also talked to a pretty cool guy who seemed to be very much in shape. He hung back and talked to me a bit before taking off at speeds well exceeding 23 mph.

All in all, despite the fact I am at work, it was a great day
