For anyone that comes back to read this thread about the product I mention, here's a recap of the email response...

Seca Ultra is to run about 5 hours on high power, which is about 700 lumens

Seca Race is to run 3.5 hours on high power

They have the capability to be adjusted to lesser power and run longer... like dropping the power to 50% will run twice as long.

This is an advantage over the HID... as when power is dropped it only increases run time by half an hour, and not double the time (3 to 3.5 hours for the Arc ion say... not the ultra version of this, that is 5 hrs on high if you read the specs).

The same battery for the HID is compatable with the Seca. So, if I wanted the HID now, I would only need to buy a new lighthead.

That's an overview. Sure there are more specifics to split hairs over when it comes out. Sounds like it has a lot of versitility, plus similiar performance.

I'm kinda thinking I might wait the Seca out and buy then. Days will be getting shorter with winter coming, and even more time spent in the dark riding. For now, maybe something lesser powered will do, and it could be my back up light later.

Lastly... I was very impressed at how quickly the email was responded too. The link just said "marketing contact" from the web page. When the responses came, they were titled from the CEO of Lights and Motion. I think that says something about their company to me. FWIW....

    L&M has excellent customer service.

Thanks for the info. One of my Li-On lamps is getting older and the run time is starting to decrease a smidge, so I was planning on replacing it in the fall. This sounds like a good option, particularly since it's a L&M product.
