Where do you live? Whistler, British Columbia

Explanation of your handle: It's actually "car back". An often yelled word from the back of the pack. Also a bit of a private joke between a good friend and me.

Explanation of your avatar: I am without one.

Age (general or specific) early 40s, but I feel 25.

    Occupation: Copywriter

Favorite bike: I don't play favourites...

What's in your stable? Trek 2100 WSD road, Gary Fisher Cake 3 full suspension, Gary Fisher Hoo Koo e Koo hardtail, Vitali Touring

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 78 km/h (~48 mph) downhill on Hwy 66 just outside of Bragg Creek, Alberta. June 2003.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I'll plead the 5th amendment on this one. (I'm also a terrible liar)

Most memorable moment on my bike: One of those days when everything just comes together: tailwind, sunny warm day, great friends, effortless hills, saying "on your left" to a guy on a bike (OK, I'm a little competitive). Sigh...

Most fun ever had on a bike? Far too many times to come up with just one.

    Hi Gayle
LOL - seems alot of folks here avoid the biggest lie question!
Hope you like the place - it kinda grows on you

Explanation of your avatar: avatar??....you mean I could have an avatar??

Age (general or specific) 46 next week

Occupation: RN part-time, professor of nursing

    Favorite bike: Terry Isis

What's in your stable? Cannondale S300; Terry Symmetry

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? Not sure of actual mph, but racing down a steep hill with my best friend (more fearless than I am) in Crozet, VA on a blind curve
Another picture of yourself or your ride? I don't have very many pixs of myself

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Of course I can do that!

Most memorable moment on my bike: I used to ride religiously when I lived in Virginia, near the AT. I had a 20 mile daily route through rolling hills, farms, gorgeous scenery. Every ride on that route was memorable-I can still see it. I just started back to riding this morning, after a long layoff (years) due to illness.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Today, realizing I can ride again!

Alas, the punishment I pay for advancing my career is that, as time goes on, I spend less time outside and more time in front of my computer in the office. c'est la vie, I guess.

But, I still get to do something I love for a living and there are a lot of people who can't say that!

    Thanks for the welcome!

    Real name: Randi

Where do you live? Leesburg, VA

Explanation of your handle: Its the name of my top competition horse (my 1500 pound baby)

Age (general or specific) 38 in, ugh, 6 days

    Occupation: IT Geek, dressage trainer

Favorite bike: I adore my SWorks hardtail for MTB. I've had it for 5 years and still refure to let my husband pick out something new (he is the mechanic at a local shop).

What's in your stable? Above plus my cyclo cross bike is a Bianchi (well, frame only because he got a deal on it from the rep), my husband did the parts package Dura Ace/XTR. Researching for a road bike now. Plus my husbands pile, a GT Zaskar, a GT Karakorum, a Trek BMX, a GT BMX, his ancient Schwinn road bike, a Giant Rincon for my daughter, a Trek Mountain Cub for my son and more boxes of parts than I care to think about. (and technically, since you said "stable", I also have 7 horses)

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? Havent got a clue since my computer was just mounted yesterday but since I just started with the road bike thing, I doubt it was very fast.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Ok, will work on that

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Telling my mom (at 17) that the reason my front axle was broken in pieces on my truck was because someone ran me off the when I had, in fact, jumped the stupid thing off a dirt bike jump and went over 6 feet high. To be young and stupid...

Most memorable moment on my bike: Ok, not exciting, but you said memorable. I was toodling around in the woods in CT and came across a doe giving birth to her fawn.

Most fun ever had on a bike? Going through the desert outside Tucson, camping out under those gorgeous night skies.

    Real name: Mendy

    Where do you live? Maryland

Explanation of your handle: I'm a mom of twin girls who will be 3 in September

Age (general or specific) 32 until December

Occupation: Recovering Lawyer, full-time mom, part time-legal consultant

Favorite bike: I've never had the pleasure of riding one but I love the look of the Aegis frames.

What's in your stable? A 1999 Klein Quantum and a 1998 GT Backwoods Mountain bike for me. My husband has a '98 Trek 2120 and a '89 trek 1200 which he keeps at his office to ride during lunch. Oh, and he also has some full suspension mountain bike that he rarely rides and I can't for the life of me remember who makes it.

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? I don't recall what it was but I remember going really really fast down a few hills back in 1996 when I did Cycle Across Maryland. Since riding again this summer I generally hit around 30 going down my one big hill on my morning loop.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Here's the bike, I have to work on one of me.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: It's not you, It's me...

Most memorable moment on my bike: When I did Cycle Across Maryland I was not prepared and suffered the entire week. My fiance at the time and my Dad were both on the trip and driving me crazy because they kept hovering around me to make sure I was okay but I felt like I had to push myself to keep up with them. On the 3rd day I managed to sneak away from them both. I had the best ride of my life that afternoon and just as I finished climbing this huge hill and came around a corner there was a field of sun flowers. As far as I could see in one direction was just this amazing display of yellow flowers rising up to meet the bright blue sky. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen until my daughters were born. I thought I might have been hallucinating but when I got to the camp site other people were talking about it so I knew they were real.

Most fun ever had on a bike? I would have to say every morning that I ride by myself right now. I'm re-learning everything and falling in love with biking all over again.

    Age (general or specific) 31

Occupation: Program Manager for Web Traffic Analytics Platform at a bank (techie-chick)

    Favorite bike: my Rodriguez

What's in your stable? My Pink Stellar SL Rodriguez, and a K2 4.0 Razorback outfitted with disk breaks for free!!!! the bike scar on the back of my leg earned those breaks at my first tune up! Looking to buy a cross bike for rainy days...

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? I am starting to avg about 25 on flat rides.... I've taken some hills pretty fast and think I am better off not knowing how fast I was going

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Need to take some!

Most memorable moment on my bike: My Boyfriend and I rode the top 1/2 of the Lake and he proposed to me... (we went the hard way witht he most hills possible and I didn't stop or slow him down too much)

    Introducing myself. :)

    Real name: Nicole

Where do you live? Oceanside, CA

Explanation of your handle: It's my name.

Explanation of your avatar: I don't have one yet.

Age (general or specific) will be 29 in August.

Occupation: It pays the bills, but it's not me.

Favorite bike: I *really* like the one I'm riding right now - did ALOT of research on the style of riding I do before I bought, and I'm very happy with it.

What's in your stable? 2004 Bianchi Axis.

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? Downhill, about 45 miles an hour, but I'm not *too* sure - was more interested in keeping an eye on side streets and for rubble on the road.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? I prefer being behind the camera than in front.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: To who? Myself or others?

Most memorable moment on my bike: September 2004. My boyfriend was in the hospital recovering from a horrible car accident, and I biked all the way there to visit him, just to make him smile. It was a 50+ mile round trip ride. It was also the first time I climbed the Torrey Pines Grade on the coast highway, north of La Jolla, on my new bike, and I managed to stay above 10mph the whole climb.

Most fun ever had on a bike? I had ridden only sub-par trail bikes on the road with knobbies before I got my Bianchi. The first few transition weeks were like, WHEEE! this is FAST! What a RUSH!

Hello Mom2twins... Mendy... great you are back on the bike after the twins... double the pleasure for you... Those sunflowers sound stunning - I have a picture that looks similar to how you describe what you saw on my screensaver.

Hi Beta, seen you on the boards already - great pic - I like the jerseys and you have a beautiful smile
