We have had no problems staying cool here in the PNW lately. Today is the first day I have run with shorts in ages. I ran 5 miles. It was lovely even though the wind was gusted up to 40 mph.

Grog - it sounds like you're trying to use your great toe extensors to help clear the ball of your foot and toes as youswing your leg through. Usually people do this when they don't have enough strength in their tibialis anterior. Try walking on your heels with your knees locked. Then try walking on your heels with your knees locked and your toes curled. If the second one is substanially harder than the first, you're probably compensating for your tib ant. Therefore you must strengthen it. To do that, keep walking around on your heels with your toes curled.
