hi all! I posted on here about 2 years ago when I wanted to get back into cycling. I got some really good encouragement and advice that I wasn't really able to take advantage of at the time. However, here it is 2 years later, my bikes were still calling my name and now my kids are a little bit older and less demanding on my time. So I've been riding!!!!! I came back here a few weeks ago and searched for the couple of posts from way back when. I applied what you all told me to do and I've since overcome my fear of traffic and hills.

For the first time in about 8 years I'm having fun on my bike again. Actually, I am having more fun now then I did 8 years ago because my time is more precious and I really appreciate the alone time I get when it's just me and my bike first thing in the morning.

I'm a beginner all over again again. I don't go very far or very fast but I'm improving every week. lately I've been lurking around here and some other bike forums and just wanted to thank you all for the friendly help that was offered the first time I tried to start again.

    Thumbs up Excellent!

I love to hear of someone getting back on their bike...particularly with 2 little kids to take care of I know finding time to ride takes a lot of careful time management. Your comment about finding it even more fun than it was in the past really struck home with me. I have been riding for about 12 years and I find I'm having even more fun now that when I first started. So welcome back on the bike!

Welcome back Mom - and how wonderful that you got back into cycling!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

wow... great mom... welcome back, although I joined some time after you

Having 5 kids I know how demanding they can be on your time
i also know how vital it is to make time happen for yourself

You'll feel better for it, and your kids will enjoy having an even better (more relaxed, more energy etc etc) mom than they have already

    SUPER!!

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".
