    Talking Another Newbie!!!

I joined the forum last week but have been reading for a few months. In March/April I bought a Trek 7000 WSD Hybrid after not having ridden a bike in about 11 years. I enjoy riding much more than I ever thought I would. After a few rides, ~ 3 wks, I switched to clipless pedals (LOOK). Now, I'm ready for a road bike. I found a great pre-owned Terry Symmetry that I plan to buy. I kind of wish I'd explored my options a bit more before buying the Trek but I really needed to ride a bit to figure out that I even liked cycling and wanted a road bike.

My husband has done a Century (MS150 Dutch Ride in Pa) and I want to do a few charity rides with him this summer. I know that I *could* do 40, 70, or 100 miles on a hybrid I'd much rather do one on a road bike. My DH doesn't *really* understand that (and because he's majorly cheap) and is against me buying a second bike so soon.

I'm pursuing a PhD in Computer Science full time and riding has been a great release for me. I didn't realize how sedentary I'd become these past few years. I'm afraid to ride in the street with cars so I drive to the trail and ride. My longest ride, so far, is 23 miles. I'm looking forward to longer rides once I get my new bike. I also need to get over my fear of cars so that I can ride in a few other places because some of the trails run into residential areas before turning back into park-like trails.

Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself and say "hi" to everyone.

Welcome! Riding around cars scares me too.

I have a PhD in CS! I started biking regularly during grad school too. Anything to get me out of the lab for an hour!

    Welcome to TE!

    Welcome!! I'm new too!!

Just bought my first road bike this week! Loving it!!
I am always 100% aware of those cars and it can be scarey!
The mental/physical positive energy as I ride is great! OK...my tush hurts today but it was still a great ride and certainly a release after a long day.
Welcome and good luck with the search for a bike...
