    Question Tri Sports Bras?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I am participating in my first triathlon in early August, and am confused about the tri suits that I have seen...most offer a chamois for cycling, but no mention of the top of the female athlete. Do I wear a sports bra under my tri suit? There have to be female triathletes out there with more than an A cup, right? Not really a true cycling question, but I hope relevant to others out there. Thanks -

I don't race at all (bike or tri's), but it seems to me that you should wear whatever bra under your tri suit that makes you comfortable and that survives well in all three activities. For example, Susan Otcenas posted a review of a new sports bra that she wore in a tri and that TE is now carrying. The review (in the middle of a discussion on sports bras) can be seen here.

And another great source for sports bras is Title 9 Sports

Well, you need to find a tri top that provides support, without an extra bra on underneith. You do not want to be swimming with extra drag involved.

I have 2 different tri tops... one being like a small sports bra and the other a full torso top. Both cause drag while swimming.

My favorite sport bra ever is a Moving Comfort "Fiona". It's wicking and reins my 36DD's in comfortably. I am not squashed flat and while there's movement I don't bounce. It also has adjustable straps. They are velcro so I don't know how they'd hold under water-you might have to fit and sew them permanently?
That said, it's not a swim top. I'd say to try your local tri outfitter but the best one around here is run by men who do an amazing job of fitting shoes but have not a clue about bras. Most of the shops just assumed I'd be a large which is far too large in the band.
For the info I also liked title9 but I went local to make sure I got the fit I wanted.
I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.
