    Patting my own back

We did the MS50 yesterday, starting in Windsor and winding around northern CT into MA briefly and back down. Last year I did this ride on my mountain bike with road tires and struggled the whole way. I also wasn't in great shape. Well, thanks to a new bike and a whole winter of hard work, I kicked butt yesterday! It was sunny (most of the time) and warm with some good breezes, never from behind, though. Last year I averaged about 10mph for the ride, this year it was 14! I actually passed people on hills and there was only one that I really struggled up. And near the end, I managed to catch up to my brother, who's usually lightyears ahead of me. My legs felt great at the end of the ride, just my shoulders and neck were achy. I'm so pleased with my progress, lets me know I've been doing the right things. A big congrats to all the other ladies who survived their rides this weekend!

What a difference a year makes NoNo, plus a year of training and a new bike! Way to go!

And Trek420 . . . How CUTE! I just love those piggy tail seat covers! And the pig face on the handle bar. Imagine that staring at you while your ride! Hehehe Just cute.
