    my grandmothers were thelma and iola. my mom had an aunt ophie and thats what i think of when i see zen's avatar. no squeeze box that i know of . . . i cant see my little sunday school kindy-gardners - brooklyn, madison, jordan, morgan, sidney, chloe, alexia et al - as grammas!!

    The funny thing is, we're laughing at the names of people two or three generations older or younger than we are. We're not thinking about how our/our friends' great-grandchildren are going to be laughing at names like Marie, Laura, Susan or Wendy No, we have classic names that are perpetually in fashion and no one will ever find them laughable.

    My southern grandmother's name was Dora Ethel. My Irish grandma's was Helen Iona. My mom's is Helen Betty.

    Helen IS a classic name, though.

    Mine is Karen Ann. I always wanted to be called Ann, and spell with the E at the end. :-/
