PLEASE put me on my bike soon!

Ok, this is a pitiful cry for inspiration. Tomorrow I have surgery. The good news is that it isn't cancer (I've suffered through numerous tests since my yearly cancer check-up in May). The bad news is that I've felt so bad that I've not been on my bike since June 20, and OH that seems so long ago.

What is causing all the problem? My gallbladder. Tomorrow me and my gallbladder will part. It wouldn't be so bad except I saw what my son went through to have his out due to a benign tumor, my dad, too (it is hereditary) AND I got to see two gallbladder surgeries during my nursing clinicals and believe me this is NOT minor surgery.

To make me feel better Ben bought me a new pair of cycling road shoes.

Anyways, girlfriends, this is not major surgery either, however, it has kept me off the bike and I hope, hope, hope that a) the hospital carries OLN network and b) I am back on my bike soon!

P.S. Ben has booked us a week at an au naturel resort in Mexico for August 1, WHAT WAS HE THINKING!

That he loves you and loves to look at you, maybe? heehee

You're right, it isn't minor. We'll be sending you positive thoughts tomorrow and we'll be here to hear all your hospital and recovery stories when you get out. <hugs>

In the meantime, remember that healing takes time, getting back to where you were cycling-wise takes time, but your muscles remember remarkably well. Once your recovery gets into full swing (which will seem like forever....), you'll see your improvement daily and we'll all be here to chear you on!!

    Namaste,
    ~T~

If your surgery is laproscopy, you could be back on the bike fairly quickly. If they're doing the big incision, it might be a few weeks. My husband had the big cut, and was back to work in a week. The bad news is, you'll be laid up for a bit. The good news is, you'll feel alot better once that gb is out. And you'll be able to eat pretty much whatever you want without suffering afterwards! Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

The good news is - you'll be slightly lighter after surgery so you'll be able to charge up the hills

Keeping you in my thoughts - let us know how everything - uh......comes out!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

Thinking of you as well! I agree, I'm sure you'll be glad when you are well and back on your bike. Don't worry, the bike will wait.

Keep us posted on how you are doing and we'll just keep riding for you!

Hello everyone. I haven't felt well at all and today is the first day I've been online since I posted here.

My surgeon said if I had waited any longer I would have had to have been opened up. The surgery lasted double the time it should have. (The internal injuries from the car wreck in 96 did quite a bit of damage and caused adhesions) I thought I'd be able to be on the bike this weekend. HA! Apparently my recovery time is four to six weeks. I'm not sure when I'll be on the bike but hopefully before four weeks. Right now I tire out quickly and get really sleepy. And here I thought this was minor surgery! HA!

Thank goodness all of this is happening during the Tour de France. I can watch it three times a day while I recuperate. What a way to heal!

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!

And watching the guy currently in the yellow jersey should give you a little inspiration. He was where you are a while back, out of surgery, chomping at the bit to get back on the bike, and when he did --- whoo, look out!

Be patient and gentle with yourself, and know that a whole bunch of women you've never seen before are sending great mojo your way.

Life can be kinda cool, especially during the most challenging of times.

    Keep us posted!
