My first ride was less than three miles, and I had to take a rest in the middle!

Two miles starting out is great, and it's two more miles than you did the day before. And as someone else said, the miles pile up really fast. I know that at first I was scared at 7mph, and soon I was comfortable at 12mph, so just the ability to increase your speed increases the miles. Befor long you will be telling your friends you did 10 miles and they will all shake their heads and say "I couldn't even go around the block!"

I'm glad you like your new Trek. Remember, as you get used to riding and your body starts chaning, then your fit on the bike might change as well (I know that in the first year my seat got raised at least two inches from where I started out), so get ocassional fittings to help you stay comfortable.
