    Angry Squirted from car drivers

    Hi everyone,
I am getting a bit naffed off now
Three times in th past week have been squirted with water from passing cars..........
twice they did it with the windscreen wash (and it seemed to be on purpose) URGH dosnt taste nice at all!!!
The last time it was a group of kids with a water bottle out of the passsenger window...............
It was already a dangerously steep hill with lots of tarmac missing (going down)
The kids stopped in a car park near the valley so I pulled alongside and told em a thing or two (three!!!) I was brave really cos they could have been bad (am a bit ashamed as i did say a couple of rude words)

Well lo and behold I was on the uphil stretch a few minutes later and they went past me and shouted an apology from the window

I was so pleased I nearly fell off again

has anyone else had this sort of experience

That was brave of you, well done! And well done of the kids for taking it back

Happened to me a couple of times, but I figure it's a harmless way for drivers to react to my horrifying presence... reckon that means they're not going to try to squish me instead.

    Unfortunately, yes.

I've been hit with the entire content of a big gulp (about 3/4 of a liter of coke and ice), a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, saliva and one freshly used women's hygeine product.

On the flip side, I've had someone offer me a nice, cold beer out the passenger's window.

That bites. I'm sorry that happened to you. It's already dangerous enough to be out riding on the road, but to have people purposely attack you is just foolish. That could have caused a serious accident.

When I was 8 months pregnant, I was doing a short 10 mile road ride around our neighborhood when some kids threw a bottle at me, it hit my front wheel. I wish I could have gotten their license plate number . . .

    What the hell????

Don't blame you for being naffed off, Scarlet. That's so obnoxious. Especially the windshield fluid. Gross. (and dangerous!)

Lucky! The closest I get to this is a beer bottle partially filled with tobacco spit thrown from a pickup truck.

Yuck! One of my cycling friends had a full can of beer chucked at him. Luckily it missed.

Some kids were throwing rocks off an overpass the other day. I didn't notice until one went whizzing by my arm.

What is wrong with people? is it really that hard to be a decent person?

What makes them think that is 'ok' or even 'funny'??

    I just don't get it.....

My biggest fear has been having someone come up beside me and blow their horn, haven't even considered the thought of someone throwing something at me!

I'm disgusted. Who would throw anything at anyone, much less a "freshly used women's hygeine product'??? People have no class or manners anymore. Honestly....

Are you guys kidding me!!!! I just can't believe that people stoop to that level!!!! I'm angry just reading this.

What is wrong with people, good lord!!!!!

I just wouldn't know what to do if someone did something like this to me. The most I have had is a group of motorcylist going by and one guy making fun by sticking his legs out and motioning like he was peddling. I know he was making fun of me, but I actually found it quite amusing and got a good laugh myself out of it. I can take a joke and fun being poked at me, but I'm afraid I would want to kick someone's butt if they pulled something like that and I came across them again. At the least I would take note of there license plate and call the police. That to me is assualt.

DH and I were riding on Saturday and we were crossing across a busy intersection. Traffic is supposed to yield on this part so, DH and I started crossing and some other cyclists were coming across from the other way. As we were crossing, a man came barrelling up to the intersection and stopped and then started gesturing at DH and I. DH turned around and stared him down. The man then proceeded to roll his window down and words were exchanged between him and my husband. I get very frustrated with drivers being so disrespectful to riders on the road. Ugh.

Ugh, this is just horrible. It frustrates me that those type of people don't have any common sense to share the road. It's already quite dangerous for us out there...seriously, what is the point of throwing things at other human beings? Grrrrr!!

You know, Fujigirl, I think you've assumed that they think of us as human beings. I honestly think they don't think we are. I have no clue what they think we are, but it's apparently not somebody's sister, wife, mother, teacher, friend, or co-worker. So sad.
