    Relays?

I did a tri about two weeks ago and my swim was a nightmare. There is another tri I'd like to do in about 2 weeks. How do relay teams work during a tri? Can I have a friend that swims like a fish do just the swim and I do both the bike and the run?

I have done 3 - 4 as the cyclist many years ago. Our team came in third in the mixed relay our first tri - we had a former Olympic water polo guy as our swimmer, me as the cyclist - fast on a flat/rolly course, and a sub 4 hr marathoner as our runner. It was pretty fun. As I recall from looking at the results, it always seemed to be a team of 3 people.

Why not switch to duathlons? Then you can bike and run and be happy.

I've seen relays that allow only two racers, but generally you can't do consecutive legs of the triathlon.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...
