I'm going to use the Giant for Cross purposes if I ever do that. It's got those fat tires on a touring frame and is fairly lightweight.

How do I get past the screechy reaction thing, though? I mean, every slide and off kilter thump had me squealing like an eight-year-old.
I can do five more miles.

Mountain biking is such a crazy thing. I'm a somewhat fearful worrier of a person about most things, but for some reason, I can dance on a thin spot of dirt next to a cliff or hop a sharp rock, and feel how close to danger I am, yet enjoy the addictive adrenaline rush from it. It's the best kind of therapy for me to just let go and trust myself.

On a more straightforward level, a mountain bike has the fat tires and suspension made just for "slides and off kilter thumps." You just have to trust the technology that's underneath you.
