Do it, CA -- your job/partner/hours sound just horrible, and such a long commute -- ouch. Sounds like you're well overdue for a change.

Nothing yet.....but he's male....so he probably figures he still has 14 hrs of shopping time until this day is over!

I'm not holding my breath though......last year (after our 2nd 'dating anniversary' came and went) I did exactly what Zencentury suggested....and went and bought myself a GORGEOUS diamond ring..... although now...I just look at it...and think...Man...that could have been a bit'chin bike payment!

    you bought YOURSELF a diamond?

sorry; I must not have that gene.
I told my DH that we could be engaged to be married but i didn't EVER want him wasting money on a diamond. And that was before I heard about the way they are mined.

I hope the BF proposes, good luck with that!

Yep..I did...it is a 3 stone diamond ring, (past present future) symbolizing what I've accomplished on my own and to remind myself I don't need a ring to prove commitment from another person, and if it was just a ring I wanted...well I can provide that for myself kind of thing (i guess)

I don't really need to be engaged...I guess it's just the girl in me that wants an 'engagement' ring and that romantic proposal

    so.......

    Dear BF....

Today is our 3rd anniversary from the day we realized we loved each other more than just a co-worker relationship, and while I really love and appreciate you in many ways .....

the girl in me is DYING for a romantic date or massage or something......anything!

and PS.... it would just be really nice if we.... (well you know what) ... and it was because you started it!!!

I never had an engagement ring but I eloped with him. We used the money that would have gone to said ring on a down payment for our first house.

Twenty happy years later, we are still married and are best friends. Much to my dismay, he bought me the diamond ring for our 19th anniversary. I rarely wear it.

I totally get the desire for a ring. DH and I consider ourselves married in every sense other than the strictly legal one, but we've never been through a ceremony and we don't have that piece of paper. (and yes I'm well aware of the many legal consequences of that)

After we'd been together ten years or so I really started noticing the absence of a ring on my hand, and noticing the way other people noticed it when we refer to ourselves as husband and wife (and I'm usually pretty oblivious to what other people think too ). Some time later I told him I wanted to wear a ring - he said he'd been thinking about that too - and he got me a wedding band for Christmas three years ago. I love to wear it, just as a symbol of our commitment that I wear 24/7 (except when I'm wrenching on the motorcycle or using power equipment - there are limits )

    Dear BF,

Thank you for the great anniversary day.....although I didn't get 'the ring' it didn't matter....you gave me much more....the flowers you sent me at work are amazing...and the hand written (by you) card that read "There is nothing about you that is anything short of Amazing" was in itself amazing!

Then when I got home, and you took me to Romul's Italian restaurant...mmmmmm.......then back home to a bathroom all decorated and ready for a nice candle lit bath...NICE!!!

Oh...topping off the night off watching the movie P.S. I love you was PERFECT!! and Don't feel bad because I cried all thru the movie......(I LOVED it!!!!!) and what more could I have learned from the movie than appreciate what you have....WHILE you have it!

    PS...I Love you!!!

    Dear Velogirl/Lorri,

Please consider teleporting to Seattle for a weekend. I would love to take your Bike Skills 101 class.

    Thank you.
