    very short list....

    To disable ads, please log-in.

these are things i really do not eat
    * Liver, chicken liver's ok but beef or calf no, covered in mountains of onions and bacon I might have a taste. Strangely I like liverworst.
    * Eggs with runny yolks. Hard boiled, scrambled are fine....just no runny yolks

with enough cheese and or sour cream I might even be able to eat these.

OMG, I keep re-reading this thread and while there are things I like more or less than others for example I once had a bad octopuss experience, my ex had to do the Heimlech, really! So I avoid that but in theory I like it. And ok, brains, tongue we used to have that when I was a kid, still not my favorite and would push it around the plate.....

but with enough cheese, garlic and or sour cream.....

Most people's lists read like a menue I'd have plenty of options on. So i want to go out with you folks because the stuff you won't eat I'll take.

Smoked oysters - yummmm! Always in my Christmas stocking along with pickled okra. Ok, so I was a weird kid (with good taste).

Black licorice - Peee-uuu! Well, unless it's candy-coated and called Good and Plenty.

    wow
I could go on and on...but I'll list a few and dredge up a few childhood memories of good ol' mom's cooking....

    tongue
    sauerkraut
    weiner lasagna
    runny eggs
    escargot
    overcooked meat of anykind
    crab
    lobster
    pickled herring
    cilantro
onions - but only because I"m allergic (and, yes, I'm a real joy in a restaurant!!)
    cheesecake
    any desert made with nutrasweet
coffee!!! and all things that have a coffee taste including tiramisu
    olives
    salami
liver. also have enjoyed liverwurst, but figure it's from the extra fat, so I avoid that too
    trout
    cabbage rolls
    cooked cabbage
    weiners
    squash and sweet potatoes!
    cooked carrots!
cod baked in some kind of milk concoction. blech
    most processed things...
and the only bugs I eat are the ones that get there at speed.

well, that's probably enough to list for now...

whoeever didn't like capers - have you ever had fried capers? now, I don't mind capers in the first place, but hate how they repeat on me for hours. the fried ones were tastier and didn't repeat!!

here here for peppers other than green, although I find the orange ones taste the most like candy to me!

I've often said that it's a good weight management ploy to be such a fuss a**. there's many foods I just don't like, and lots of fattening ones that I can easily say no to....it's kind of handy in a completely annoying way! heehee

oh, and peas fresh in the pod are fabulous, but cook em, even the home-grown ones, and yuk yuk yuk

can you just see all of us trying to have a dinner in a fancy restaurant?? How to drive the servers and chefs crazy!!

    Namaste,
    ~T~

The EYES don't have my vote! will not eat food that is staring back at me, and no evidence of what I am eating, don't want the resemblence of the animal or what ever creature.
ALSO< No raw fish, or other raw meats either. NO LIVER OR ORGAN MEAT

Otherwise I will eat all Veggies, fruit, berries, squash, etc. Cooked meats, chicken and turkey as number one, steak here and there.

Beans, yuck, kidney, garbonzo, lima, butter, white, navy all of them except green. Also ginger, cooked bell pepper, organ meats and bivalves except clam chowder. I wish I was a really fussy eater than maybe losing weight wouldn't be so hard.
    Thanks, this was fun.

I thought I was the only one! Except I've never grown out of it.

I have a reputation as a picky eater. Among my other dislikes:
legumes of all shapes and sizes (it's a texture thing)
mustard (the taste, smell, sight, even the thought of it)
    ketchup (but I LOVE tomatoes)
mayo and anything made with mayo
creamy salad dressings and cream sauces
any more than mildly/moderate spicy food
most seafood except shrimp and some fish
eggs in any form except scrambled
sour cream unless used in baked goods
cream cheese except in baked goods
    coffee
    beets, olives, green peppers, hominy
    coconut, dried bananas, grapefruit, avacado
    organ meats and hotdogs

    Fun thread!

Hrm. I'm trying to think of foods that I won't eat and the only thing that comes to mind is haggis. I had a bad haggis incident when I was younger. Maybe if I go to Scotland and try it there, I'll give it a try again, but I won't touch it till then.

But, I love all kinds of food from the ordinary burger & fries, to sushi/sashimi, to tripe, menudo, and sun dried squid heated over an open flame (it's alot like jerky). I've even walked around work before absentmindedly chewing on a tentacle covered in suckers. My coworkers give me odd looks.

I do have to say that there are some foods I'm sure I wouldn't like much if I tried them. I remember eating one thing called amuck (not sure of the spelling). It wasn't bad... just... odd...

SadieKate "I was just thinking the same thing!"

Sadiekate, great minds think along the same lines.

And Melody, are there GOOD haggis incidents??

Also isn't there a Christmas carol about:
"sun dried squid heated over an open flame"
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
    Tiny tots with their ....

    never mind, sorry ;-)

off food topic, Hillslug and Bikegoddess (anyone else???) are setting off for the STP today I think. Let's give them a rousing TE Bon Voyage.

Spazz - feel free to pass me any of that cake you don't like...I love cake!!!!! Oh, all I can think about is cake right now. Yummmmm.
    OK what is yerba matte?

Capers: a small berry usually pickled. Adds a peppery taste to food. It's delicious in dishes using butter and lemons. My favorite (and I make it often) is Chicken with Lemon/caper/butter sauce. Mmmmmm good! Also like them in my salads.

Its amazing to me that so many people don't like green peppers, and most fruit and vegetables for that matter. I love all fruit (although bananas and mango are not faves) and all vegies, including gross ones like okra and especially love artichokes. Just not a fan of some meats but I think its the way my mother prepared them when I was a kid. She cooked everything to death. Like Spazz, I now love and will only eat steak rare. I haven't eaten or been offered lamb since I was a kid and I don't go out looking for it. Liver, well there is just no reason to eat liver.

Tend to stay away from some ethics foods but only becuase of the use of garlic but love Japanese, Mexican, Greek, Persian, Indian, Thai and Chnese. Just need to find someplace that will prepare dishes without garlic.

    Can't do it...

Ditto on the bell peppers -- raw is way better than cooked. Can't do cooked, never could. Beets, except juiced. Always been like that.

Dead critters... I do give in to "flesh lust" and eat fish occasionally, but not much.

Somebody told me escargot is all about the garlic butter. I guess it would have to be.
