    Calgary advice

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I'm planning a casual road trip to Calgary (my home town!) probably leaving here somewhere ~May 20th or so. Probably staying 4-7 days or so before coming back to the island.

I haven't been back to cowtown for 20 years, so I could use some info/advice about hotels/motels (somewhere I can use as a base, pref w/ internet), places to bike (does Paskapoo/COP have summer biking? other places to ride/trails/paths etc?) and so on. Any advice would be appreciated!

EDIT: I's be looking for a hotel/motel in the NE area near the airport, or SW area. Doesn't need to be 5-star, but clean and has internet in the rooms.

    Many thanks,
    ~Sherry.

COP is pretty popular for mountain biking in the summer. There's also Nose Hill Park in the NW and the Weaslehead area on the west side of the Glenmore Reservoir. West of the city the Telephone Loop near Bragg Creek is popular. Those are all mountain biking areas. If you want road biking highway 8 to Bragg Creek or 1A to Cochrane are both good.

Check out the http://bikecalgary.org/ forums. There are sections for rides. The guy who runs the site rides with a GPS on his bike and posts new routes pretty often.

Since I live here I've never paid much attention to hotels. http://calgary.airporthotelguide.com/map.html has a bunch.

Cool, thanks. I'll check out the links you posted.
Nose Hill and Confederation Park sound good; I grew up in that area (Cambrian Heights). I remember when they built Confederation Park!
