GLC, that's pretty much what I have been considering up til now. I'm just not having any luck finding that bike!
Raining now, so not a good day for bike shopping anywho.

I bought a commuter. It's not vintage. It's not an Electra.
I went to my regular LBS to look around, but they didn't have anything like what I had in mind.
So next I headed to Eastside Cycles. They had some pretty Electras. But the guy suggested that for our hilly area, not enough gearing.
So I test rode and bought a Schwinn World GS Commuter. Here's what it looks like from the website:

I actually test rode it in heels! I need to mess around with the setup some. I'm used to my legs being more stretched out when I pedal.
I'll let you know how it goes. I'll probably need some advice too.
She's pretty and looks like what a commuter with a ride of less than 2 miles should be. Can't wait for a ride report on its maiden voyage!

OOhhh very pretty, good choice, and looks like it will be a nice ride with the shock forks and seat.
She needs a wicker basket on the front to carry flowers and a bell...

The Schwinn does look nice, though.

Oh, that pashley is nifty. But at least I have a kinda local dealer.
Hopefully I can provide pics later today. It's stormy out right now.
This is Baby Blue. S/he has been welcomed home by Black Beauty and Old Blue. We have not decided gender yet.
Here s/he is dressed up for commuting. Note the careful inspection by Miss Kitty who thinks air is needed.
She approves.
I think Miss Kitty hears a slow air leak. Cats know these things.
