I'm getting back on bike for the first time and many years (20?). I've somehow lost my mind and have the idea that I could train for the San Francisco AIDS Lifecycle ride, next year...yikes!
I bought a commuter bike yesterday, a Raleigh 40c...definetely not the bike I'll ride for ALC 5, or even the Cinderella Classic, my first goal.
I live in San Francisco and I'm presently focusing on just getting moving again! and breaking in my rear. Tonight I got on the bike for a quick ride and as I started riding, the sit spots on my rear screaming I chanted to myself "I can do this, I can do this...." Yes, I do have pair of chamois shorts..this is the pressure part that I have to get used to!
Looking forward to learning from all of you!
Sharon

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
See Sharon, you didn't have to stay with us long to turn that sad face into a smile. Isn't biking wonderful?! Keep coming back and let us know how you're doing with your goals.
Hey... YOU CAN DO IT! Seriously!
You have a year to train... and it sounds like you are focused... that will keep you motivated to put more and more miles on your bike!
Stay strong... and when you get tired... stay focused and keep pedaling!
Best of luck!
