Have him check out the Bianchi C2C 928 Carbon series (can get ultregra, chorus, or dura ace w/in your budget). C2C stands for Coast to Coast so the geometry isn't as aggressive as other bikes. As a heads up, the bikes normally ship to the dealer with the stem flipped to be a bit more aggressive, so if he feels a tad too stretched out, you can try flipping the stem.

I have a 2002 Fuga, which I just got last Sept (new). It was in the Gita warehouse all this time waiting me! It's alu with carbon fork and stays. She's white and silver with red and black "Merckxs". Really unusual color scheme for Eddy. I'll someday post pics if I ever get a camera!
I admired the pics of your bike you recently posted!!! Sweet! Yours is the newer version of mine. I can see how you can ride 200 miles on her (well, not really, but kind of
).

What about Giant?
We have a couple of Trinitys in large sizes which the lads in the house have used for road racing, and converted one into a TT bike.
My partner and eldest sons are all 6'2" - 6'3.5"
