Commute in... the big rubber band on the tennis ball I'd found and tossed in the bags attacked my wheel so I had to pick the pieces out and even apply that same "shove it backwards" shoe principle to get the last bits out so the wheel would roll again. I must say, I'm 'way more sensitive to things coming in contact with my spokes since getting tossed The real warm fuzzy was that not one but two people who knew me just happened to be going by!
Fought the wind to get down to my LBS at lunch to here the "so much more I should tell you" about marking routes for bike rides. And there was! Down to the last detail about keeping the paint off the car, your shoes... I brought my alphasmart (word processor) and took notes and we made jokes and everything was, in every sense of the word, cool. Got my derailleur adjusted and now I know which thingy to turn *and* it doesn't jump in the middle chain ring (which is what caused my foot to slide off the pedal and the shoe to get sucked up into the wheel).
Rode back coasting at 16 mph.
Beat the storms home... in fact, the're not here *yet* so I'm thinkin' I should have just blown around sme more!
19 miles... 21 to go to get to 2000.
Hoping to get good miles in tomorrow.

It was gorgeous all day, sunny and about 72. I had plans to ride with my friend at 5. Of course, by then, it was 62, cloudy-ish, and looking like it might rain. Oh, and very windy.
We did a flattish/rolling ride of about 23 miles. Some of my favorite streets in Acton and Boxborough, and Stow. I was cold at the start, wearing arm warmers and a vest, but after awhile felt OK. At the end of the ride, my legs were cold and one of my knees was achy.
My computer hadn't re-set the last time I rode, so I don't know my speed. It was fast for the first half, but then I had to stop and wait several times for my friend. That was OK, we both got a lot of time in the big ring.
Some of the places we rode today were part of my commute from my old house; I really miss some of that beautiful scenery/wildlife refuge.

April 25 was a lovely day, overcast but not too cold (though a very cool early morning).

ANZAC Day is a day where we all try to do something together... this was the first year my daughter couldn't join us as she is at university, but the rest of us went for a walk up our hill.

But before we all did that, my partner and I did just under 20kms - I was testing my two race bikes due to minor changes, and we just rode back and forth along the road frontage of our farm. I don't get many riades with him, so these moments are precious.

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".

I had such high hopes for a fun ride. The weather was beautiful, but about 5 miles into it, my chamois started bunching in the most undesirable way. Weird, I have 2 pairs of the exact same knickers, one is still fine, and one has begun this little torture trick. Guess they're wearing out. Still rode the ride I was planning, but everything was a little off. It's time to go shopping.

Do love the new shims I put in my brifters! Before, in the drops, I could just reach the brakes with my middle fingers. Now I can easily use all of them. Big improvement!

All in all, not my best day on a bike. Funny how one inch can demand so much attention.
