I'm pretty sure you can very simply order from their web site. I think it's on $5 to become a member now, and it's good for life.

Let me know by PM if you can't make it work!

Basil bags are interesting and of course, Europeans firms would offer more selection since they've been doing functional cycling much longer in bigger numbers.

I forgot all about Basil! Someone had pointed them out in a past post. I really like them. I think the next time I am in Europe/ Amsterdam I will have to search them out! They look very useful on and off the bike/ not ugly!

I bought 2 of the Nashbar grocery panniers about 2 years ago and have carried gallon jugs of cooking oil as well as massive quanitities of tinned soup when the store has a sale. A lot of weight, in other words. The panniers seem quite sturdy and I'm happy with them in general, though it would be nicer if they had integral strap-over tops. They do come with "shower cap" tops (hidden in a zippered compartment on the bottom of the panniers). The shower caps work to keep things dry but aren't especially convenient to put on since they're not elasticised. I've thought about making new, elasticised ones but so far have been too busy/lazy.

I leave the panniers mounted on the bike (a thin cable thwarts opportunistic thieves) and shop using my cloth tote bags which, when filled, fit neatly into the panniers. When I get some time, I'm going to build (or perhaps buy, but I'd prefer to build) a front rack for my frankenbike and add 2 more panniers to take care of the occasional heavy-shopping days when I seem to be out of everything all at once.

    Arkel Pannier

I went out to the Arkel site and they really look nice! Is anyone using the Arkel shopping bag single side pannier? It looks perfect. I'm single, so my grocery haul isn't terribly large - Iv'e been smooshing groceries in my back pack, which is not my favorite thing to do...... particularly a dozen eggs

    Anyone using this bag?

Ooooh... I am really jivin' for a purple set of the Basils. Does anyone know if there is a dealer in the northwest? I haven't done too much serious searching because I know that the second I find them my checkbook will lower accordingly
We just moved to a new place that's farther from the grocery store than the two blocks we are used to, and I am thinking these will do the job nicely. They are cute as heck and I'm looking at it from a purely style point of view
