Hang in there. I know how you feel. I encourage you to be become very informed of the possibilities through research (webmd.com is a good start) and questions of the doctor...your mother will benefit from the advocacy and it will calm you as well.
We once had an ER nurse tell us that the pay extra attention in situations where the family is informed and inquisitive. It sounds odd and unfair...but I believe in some cases, it may be true.

Thanks everyone. I forgot to update you all. She came home Friday. I went to pick her up and the doctor came in and said that the EEG they had done indicated some areas that looked as though she may have had a seizure.
Makes sense to me because I know after a seizure you become very lethargic and tired and do not speak well. Which was exaxtly what she was doing. Of course with her she just wouldn't wake up, but still she is 70 and it may have effected her more. She has to go in and see a neuroligist (sp?) and go back to her regular doctor in a week. They told her to stay off the pain patch until she sees him, so hopefully all will be okay. She seems absolutely fine now.
I have to tell you though, my niece was suppose to go over there to spend time with her this past weekend and my mom insisted that she still come over, (she's 13) so on the way home, I stopped by and got her and took them both back to her place. I had stopped by the grocery store for a few things and had not even gotten home yet and my DH called me on the cell to let me know that my niece had called and something about stiches but he couldn't understand her. So I called over to my mom's and no answer, so I called a friend that lives in the apartment complex with her and they are good friends and my mom is always over there, well, my mom was there and had fallen again and they were taking her back to the ER because she busted her knee open and needed stiches. She said she had gotten her cane hooked on the door ledge somehow and fallen. Of course my niece was freaked out and that is why DH couldn't understand her.
My sister and I both told her, "couldn't you have come home and rested a day before you started running around".
She is okay, she had to get 14 stiches in her knee.
My goodness, my mom and mil are going to be the death of me. LOL
I thought we were suppose to say that about our children not our parents. LOL
Gotta love em!!!!
Thanks everyone!!!

Oh gosh! Poor mom having to go through round 2 with the knee ding.I am glad the doctors were able to determine what caused her symptoms. I hope that she will be given good treatment and that the family will work together to help her with her care.
Best wishes for you...and for your mom..she's had a rough couple of days, along with the rest of the family..
Fourteen stitches... wow...
Hope things calm down for everybody now. Sending warm fuzzies and prayers...
