I haven't run this week yet
I did get my road bike out for the first time this season (snowy north, here) and felt GREAT!! Spinning all winter has really helped. I biked, then went to an evening spin class.
I have a boil under my arm!!!!I thought it was a lymph node, but now it is the size of a walnut and has a small head in the center. It HURTS!! I have never had one before. It is painful when my arm goes back and forth. I put drawing salve (horse type, of course, my husband is a vet!!) and a big bandaid on it, but man, is it sore!! This puppy better go away soon---I have miles to train!!
Happy running, girls.

If that remedy doesn't work... get to a dermatologist. I had a saddle sore that was like a boil/cyst. It was horrible. Would flare up when I rode, go down when I was done.
I went in and in 5 minutes she lanced it, drained it, shot it up with cortisone and my problem was fixed.

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather, to skid in broadside thoroughly used-up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: WOW WHAT A RIDE!!!!"
I actually went to my family doctor last night. He wanted to give me antibiotics, but we talked about it and as long as I feel ok, we might as well wait for it to come to a head. I think he is so conditioned to people wanting drugs, that he was actually relieved when I said I didn't think I needed them.
He, and my husband (yikes! a DOG doctor) both agreed it is not ready to lance.
I ran 2.5 miles today in 19 minutes, but it was starting to hurt as my arm touched my side. I held my jog bra at the neck and held my arm tight to my side, but it still was getting sore. The boil is located at the very top of my arm pit when my hand is in the air.
Drawing salve is salve designed to soften the skin and draw things like slivers and abcesses out. This particular kind was black and smelled bad, but is ok for humans.
It did feel good to run, except of course for the searing pain in my arm pit!!!! Man, we are a strange group, us athletes.....

Ah...well I hope you can get it lanced soon Horsemom! That sounds painful.
I know my Dr. gave me antibiotics for my saddle sore... to use after the lancing... but I figured I would just see if the lancing did the trick. And it did. I try to avoid antibiotics if I can help it.
Suffering... it's not pain.... it's suffering.![]()
We all gotta suffer to be athletic. Of course, yours is an issue that hopefully can be fixed real soon!

but also, asphalt makes the feets go faster.
In NJ for the funeral, I got in a little run in my in-laws' neighborhood. After running on the beach all winter, even small hills sure felt different - but without the energy absorption of the sand, I went a lot faster than I anticipated, too, even though a mile or so was on grass.
Not too much traffic in mid-morning, but the roads can be pretty busy, so I was glad for the Xinglet I just got from REI - much brighter than it looks in this picture.
5.03 miles at a 9:40 pace.
Owie Horsemom. I've had those a couple of times when I was younger, and the worst part is they made me feel so SICK. Ugh. Heal up fast!
